Appiah’s Man City trip is a waste - Nana Agyemang

Outspoken football coach and commentator, Nana Kwaku Agyemang insists the purported trip to England by national team coach, Kwesi Appiah to apparently understudy coaches at Manchester City is a complete waste of time.

Appiah had for over SIX YEARS being Ghana assistant coach serving under many expatriate coaches, the former Ghana captain only taking up the top job barely a year ago following the dismissal of his immediate former boss, Goran Stevanovic.

He failed miserably on the job however as his Black Stars so woefully failed to glitter at the recent Cup of Africa Nations in South Africa. Contrary to Ghanaian expectations that he will get the sack, the Ghana Football Association surprisingly chose to keep him in the job amid revealing plans to enhance his tactical acumen.

Top of that list apparently is that Coach Appiah is supposed to go a 21-day coaching attachment with the reigning English Premier League champions to understudy the coaching staff headed by Roberto Mancini, David Platt and Brian Kidd. It will be the second time Appiah would have had attachment at the Etihad Stadium.

But UEFA licensed coach as well as coaches’ instructor, Nana Agyemang maintains that Appiah can only truly imbibe tactics, technicalities and rudiments of coaching only by studying in a classroom under the instruction of certified trainers.

“Sending him to Manchester City is a waste of time, you can’t learn to do the job that way. He has to go for UEFA to train him. Sending him to Manchester City, you don’t learn to read the game that way. You have to go for UEFA to teach you, he has to go for a UEFA license,” Nana Agyemang has told 90 MINUTES.
