Five local players to make Ghana AFCON squad

Five local players are expected to be named in the provisional 25-man Ghana squad expected to be announced on Thursday, media reports have suggested.

Ashantigold shot-stopper Fatawu Dauda, Liberty Professionals’ Daniel Agyei as well as Berekum Chelsea duo Richard Kissi Boateng and Solomon Asante likely to make the cut.

Asante Kotoko strong centre-back Rashid Sumaila is believed to be among one of the indigenous men likely to come into the fray with Samuel Inkoom and Lee Addy likely to be dropped.

Ghana coach Kwesi Appiah will name his provisional squad at a press conference where he will be expected to defend his squad.

The 25-man squad will embark on a pre-camping base in the United Arab Emirates where the number will be pruned down to 23.
