Hon. Omane Boamah can’t wait for CAN 2013

Hon. Edward Omane Boamah, Deputy Minister of Sports has reiterated government’s unflinching support for the national team ahead of the 29th Africa Cup of Nations and is also reposing a massive dose of confidence in the Black Stars to return home as Africa champions.

Dr. Omane Boamah has confirmed that the Ministry have approved the GFA’s budget for the tournament after few adjustments.

He reiterated however that what is most important for him is the unity that could engulf Ghanaians once again once the tournament kicks off in South Africa on January 19. “It’s a welcome distraction for all Ghanaians from the political tension engulfing the nation as a result of the elections. It will be another occasion for us to come together and support our nation,” Hon. Omane Boamah said on Asempa FM few hours after Coach Appiah released his provisional 26-man squad. He continued: “We are pledging the best support possible to enable the Black Stars return home as champions. It will be special for us all in this country.”

The Deputy Minister is also convinced helmsman, Kwesi Appiah is up to the huge task of guiding the national team to success at the continental fiesta for the first time in over three decades.

“I believe in Kwesi Appiah, he’s very experienced and more importantly he has shown that he is in charge and that he cannot be pushed around,” Hon. Omane Boamah said. He added: “It’s clear he is on top of his game and I have confidence that he has selected the right players to win the cup for Ghana. I can’t wait for the tournament to begin.”
