Polo tips Atsu

to help Ghana shine at CAN 2013

Ex -Ghana international, Mohammed Ahmed Polo is optimistic Christian Atsu will take the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations by storm.

The FC Porto winger will be making his debut appearance at this year’s tournament in South Africa. The youngster has already caught the eyes of many Ghanaian who have nicknamed him as ‘Ghana’s Lionel Messi’ due to his improvement in skills and dribbling abilities.

Polo has told Gbc Ura Radio Sports in Bolgatanga that he is praying for Atsu to be an instant hit at the first time of asking in terms of Africa’s flagship football competition.

“I pray Christian Atsu replicates what he showed to Ghanaians during the qualifiers on the bigger stage and I have no doubt that the young man can handle the pressure that comes with it. I have the feeling that he will be our secret weapon at this year Nations’ Cup,” Polo said.

20 year old Atsu has made five appearances for the Black Stars and in return has scored 2 goals and is part of head coach Kwasi Appiah’s provisional 25-man squad for the tournament which begins in less than two weeks

This current crop of Black Stars players will be hoping to end the country’s nation’s trophy drought of over three decades. But must first negotiate their way out of a group that also has Mali, Niger and DR Congo.
