Sellas Tetteh honoured to return to Satellites

Sellas Tetteh says he is "extremely honoured" to have been asked to handle the national under 20 team again, three years after guiding the side to World Cup glory.

Ghana have won the African Youth Championship thrice - in 1993, 1999 and 2009 - and will be making a ninth appearance next year. Tetteh has been tasked to bring gold for Ghana again and he says he's ready for the challenge.

"I am extremely honoured to have been considered for this job. To be honest, it was not expected, but now is time to work," he told supesport.com on Wednesday.

Maxwell Konadu took the team through a tough qualifying series, after rescuing the charge following a poor start by Orlando Wellington. The new man acknowledged the role played by every one of his predecessors.

"Orlando, Maxwell and all their assistants and everyone else have done their bit. Without their work we won't be talking about me taking over to Algeria," he noted.

Tetteh was appointed coach side on Monday and will seek at least a top four finish in the nation's quest to retake the trophy he won in 2009.

He will have to contend with hosts, Algeria in Group A, as well as Benin and Egypt. The tournament starts in March next year, with Nigeria's Flying Eagles being the reigning champions.
