Supersport Launches AfCON 2013 In Accra

The 29th edition of the Africa Cup of Nations scheduled for South Africa between 19 January and 10 February promises to be exciting for all DStv subscribers.

DStv Premium subscribers with access to an HD PVR decoder can watch all 32 games live and in high definition - there will be 28 games on the dedicated AFCON channel SuperSport HD 2 and 4 games on SuperSport HD 1 (which will be specifically used as an overflow channel for games that kick off at the same time).

Meanwhile DStv Premium subscribers (without an HD PVR decoder) can watch all 32 games live - 28 games on the dedicated AFCON channel SuperSport 4 and 4 games on SuperSport Blitz. DStv Premium subscribers also have access to SuperSport Select which, whilst not a dedicated AFCON channel, will also screen 28 AFCON games.

DStv Compact Plus, Compact, Family and Access subscribers can watch action from AFCON 2013 on SuperSport Select (28 live games) and SuperSport Blitz (4 live games).

DStv Mobile and Mobile Plus subscribers won't miss out either - all 32 games will be available to them live - 28 games on SuperSport Select and 4 games on SuperSport Blitz.

SuperSports impressive coverage and programming will include live games, HD coverage, magazine shows, detailed pre and post-game studio analysis from leading football experts and well packaged highlight shows set to provide an optimal viewing experience to viewers in 47 African countries.

SuperSports and Multichoice Ghana explained this at a media event held at The Lexington (Paloma Hotel) in Accra to launch its coverage of the AFCON 2013 tournament.

Key stakeholders at the event included the Communications Manager of the Ghana Football Association, Mr. Ibrahim Sani Dara, Board Member of the Sports Council, Mr. Issac Tetteh, Veronica Commey of the Sports Writers Association of Ghana, as well as other heads of sports from various media houses.

The General Manager of Multichoice Ghana, Mr. Cecil Sunkwa-Mills said "I am happy to announce that during this AFCON event, Multichoice Ghana will be rewarding two of its customers with an all-expense paid trip to watch the semi-final and final matches of AFCON 2013 through the DStv Mobile Mega Promotions. Hopefully, they will be in the stands supporting the Black Stars in those specific final matches."

Marketing Manager for SuperSport West Africa, Mr. Chidozie Bede-Nwokoye revealed that all the 32 matches broadcast from the 5 host cities of the tournament, will broadcast live on both Standard Definition and High Definition channels.

Bringing fun and banter to the event, several journalists won DStv Mobile devices as well as branded souvenirs in a trivia competition whilst SuperSport Nigerian presenter Mr. Charles Anazodo and seasoned host of Happy FM's Sports Morning show, Mr. Charles Osei-Asibey deliberated on the strengths and weakness of all 16 countries in the competition.
