Agyei eyes European career

Goalkeeper Daniel Agyei claims he has received many offers after his heroics for Ghana at the World Under-20 Cup and is keen to test his skills in Europe.

The Liberty Professionals keeper says he has had offers from clubs in Italy, France and Bulgaria, but insists he will leave the final decision to the Dansoman-based club.

Ghanaian goalkeepers rarely shine in Europe, but Agyei is hopeful he can buck that trend and prove the goalies can be as good on European soil as the outfield players have been.

Of immediate concern to Agyei, however, is to try and use the Ghana Premier League to convince Milovan Rajevac that he can be a good deputy for current Black Stars number one Richard Kingston.

Agyei is one of many players from the Unfder-20s in line for a call-up to face Mali in November and is keen to prove a point if he gets his chance in that game.

“It’s always been my ambition to play for the Black Stars, so I am very happy the coach is considering me for a call-up,” he tells KickOffGhana.com. “I feel I can be useful to the team and I will be happy to prove that when I am handed the opportunity.”
