Atubiga released from prison

Stephen Atubiga, a member of the New Democratic Congress’ (NDC) communication team, has been released from prison after serving his three-day jail sentence, according to XYZ News.

The Supreme Court on Tuesday sentenced Mr Atubiga to the three-day term in prison for criminal contempt after he had said on Accra-based Peace FM that the NDC would not hand over power even if the court ruled to that effect in the ongoing election petition case.

Mr Atubiga, who was summoned by the court on Thursday, June 27, 2013 for his comments, started rendering abject apologies on the media even before his appearance before the Court for sentencing on Tuesday.

He was released from the Akuse prisons on Thursday morning.
