The bigger question what will be the use of that water?

1.It cannot be used for farming because salty water will kill the plans.

2.Animals will not drink salty water and if they do, they will die of internal dehydration.

3. Trees along the course of the sea extension and the sea destination will all die.

4.We may get fish, but will that be prudent in the cost benefits analysis.

The bigger or gibber question How will it contribute to our urgent developmental need?

There are about 18 states in the USA which are landlocked. The sea has never been dredged to any.

If you pump sea water to Kumasi it is not an ocean. It's just a large body of salt water. How are you going maintain the biodiversity of the pond. That pond will mess up the biodiversity of a lot of water bodies in Kumasi.

Dump millions of tonnes of salt in lake bosomtwi. Easy solution.

The Suez canal is only 18 meters above sea level, and about the same lenght as the coast to Kumasi. It cost $9 billion to construct at that time.
You will need over $100 billion to embark on such fruitless endeavour which is economically not viable. People should start using their uptstairs a little bit more. We fool too much in Ghana.

How can you even think of any reason why you would did 273 kilometers of land just to send the see to Kunasi and serve what purpose? You will have to excavate all the way from Jamestown through Circle and then you remove all the hills from Aburi to Akwapim, then remove from Akwapim to Koforidua and then you have to defeat Kwahu mountains, then Agogo hills and on and on to Kumasi. If this not foolishness, then it is madness. Even the Tema Habour what use are we puttning to it?

There are several basic, basic things we need as Ghanaians before tackling some of these huge projects like the sea extension which may not be completed during the tenure of Cheddar if he should win the presidential election. In fact, there are hot issues like, Galamsay menace, sanitation, unemployment, security, corruption, health care, etc, etc, etc, etc, which any new government must address and we are talking about extending the sea to Kumasi? Rubbish. Are you the only person in Ghana who has been to Dunai? Ghanaians have every right to question how that ambitious plan is going to be funded. Don't expect Ghanaians to open their mouths and swallow every promise thrown at them by any politician without detailing how their promised project will be funded. It isn't that the plan can't be executed; rather, the person making the promise ought to be forthcoming and detail how that plan will be funded. Merely stating that Dunbai has done similarly successfully and also claimimg that he has looked at maps seen that other parts of the world have accomplished similar feats isn't enough. Cheddar is now into politics, and promises to act in some way or another will involve funding that will not be personally borne by him. He therefore needs to inform the people of Ghana how he plans on funding the project. That isn't too much gor the public to ask of any budding politician making campaign promises.

Iam very much disappointed in A Plus for backing such idea,in this world you cut your coat according to your measurement, where is the money to embark into such project,Dubai never went into borrowing to construct the palm city,they have the money and the resources and the commitment, how can Cheddar go into such huge project and also think about the terrains of Ghana and the difficulty engineering coast that the project can create this project is not political gimmick but such project will involve huge financial imput which Ghana cannot stand it.

You are rather wrong Sir. God designed the continents such that all the natural drainage system such as all the inland water bodies flow downward towards the sea and so the interior lands are higher than the coastal lands. By this it means the interior lands are at higher levels than coastal lands so no water can flow from the coast into the interior but the reverse is true. By this one can draw sea water towards a parallel land such as the sea canals you are talking about. A water flow from the coast to Kumasi is not possible. The best way to achieve this is to rather entrench a natural drainage system such as a river or lake from Kumasi that is linked to flowing into the sea downward to achieve this. This is doable by expanding the pathway of the river or lake to make ship transportation possible from the sea into Kumasi and vice versa. A closer example is the transportation system on the volta lake to Akosombo. A way can be done to link a water body in Kumasi to the Volta lake and from Akosombo to the sea to get a link between Kumasi and the sea. It's doable this way but not the way Cheddar is suggesting. It's not possible to draw the sea into a higher interior land. Kumasi is at a higher sea level so not possible for the sea to flow towards there.
