Trains need to identify stations or obstacles well in advance before making a calculated stop. To make matters worse, the friction between a train’s metal wheels and metal tracks is far lower than that between a car’s tyre and the road. So, coming to a quick stop needs human oversight, and achieving full automation would require far more advanced image processing technology than is currently available. That technology would then need to pass more rigorous reliability tests than self-driving cars, before being legally allowed to control public transport, because although both are terrible, a car crash has nowhere near the destructive potential of a train wreck.

The place is not a level-crossing, no vulganiser, no fitting shop, no footpath either so what actually happened to the driver to take that decision? Indiscipline on our roads has been on display on the train lines by the driver of the truck and he should be charged for causing financial loss to the state. You can't do this in North Korea because entire family of the driver would be punished even the child in the womb in the family won't be spared. Stupidity and Indiscipline are at that highest level. The other day I was travelling in trotro and the driver was arrested for over loading the police woman asked the driver's licence and she realised the licence has expired since 2022 and his punishment was to pay or to give 70gh after bargaining and we were left to go.

That aside, the driver made an informed decision on his own that the railway lines were not in use and he could conveniently leave his 'stuck' truck on it, unattended, till he could get it off! Hello fellow Ghanaians, it is a railway line, and new at that! The couches of the train may be plastic and trash, but that has nothing to do with an idiot leaving his truck on its lines. How many times have we not seen some stupid illiterate 'drivers' turning neighborhood playgrounds or walkways into parking lots? Yes, the forces that may be should have swept the tracks ahead of the test drive, but that doesn't excuse us as human beings from applying the contents of our brains and realizing the rail lines were there for a reason....to be used by trains! The driver and his company should be held accountable for the damage done to the train. Jail them as an example if you have to. This has nothing to do with politics! That is my believe. I could be wrong, but I doubt it!

It's surprising that those who were conducting the test run didn't see it necessary to do prior inspection of the railway line. For a railway line that had been idle for all this while, it is likely for it to have obstacles placed on it. It is not likely that the owner of the truck or/and the driver would intentionally put the truck there because as has happened, they have incurred a big loss. The railway ministry should therefore take blame for the mishap for not ensuring all was clear before conducting the test run.

Because of politics the real culprits will be left off the hook. The public servants at the railway company who were testing the rails should have by experience known that since the line was constructed years ago with no activities, the likelihood of meeting such a challenge was high. What I have known as an ordinary citizen living in Accra is that, even the old lines from Tema to Accra before the resumed service, a shorter mechanised rail was used to ply the route to check for faults and clear the railways for days before the main train started operations. Haven't left the lines idle for years, aside this incidence, I wouldn't be surprised if some defects and dislocation might have happened along the stretch.
So who took the decision for the test rain without adequate notice to the public on the event to protect lives and save public property. People are paid to think and come out with safety measures at the railway authority and those must be force to provide explanations to the lapse that resulted in thus accident

Let's look at the following.
1. The dimensions of the underside Road if that is the only access road in the area. It must be expanded.
2. The technical guys at the railways must be proactive. The rrail inspection director must be fired for sleeping on his job.
3. The good in this accident is a wake up call to get better trains with emergency stopping brakes and obstacle sensors to save lives. Assuming it's a passenger car at avenor rail line where rail crosses the road and there are malfunctioning traffic lights.
4. Sensitise Ghanaian drives to at all cost avoid dangerous short cuts. Stubborn ones must punished.
Take it or leave it, when these are not done the challenge will occur again
