Ghana's herbal practitioners either acquire useless honorary doctorate degrees from sham institutions or they just represent themselves out as doctors. Though many herbs are medicinal, these herbal outfits in Ghana do not have any proven scientific procedures to back their claims of their herbal drugs efficacy. If these herbal outfits are engaged in the dispensing of herbal drugs as cures for various ailments, then they should be required to provide scientific proof of the efficacy of these drugs, just as pharmaceutical companies are required by the FDA to do. All Ghanaians have to go by right now regarding these herbal doctors and their medicines is the claims they make about having cured people, and that should not be acceptable without any tests to proof that these herbal drugs do indeed perform as they are represented. The titles held by these herbal healers can be misleading. An example is the lady who recently passed away. She represented herself as a doctor, but that doctorate was an honorary degree issued by a religious institution. Even though she operated a herbal clinic and hospital, she had no formal training as a physician, for she was a trained nurse. Ghanaians should be alarmed by the those parading themselves as doctors with no formal medical training, and they should be required to furnish the FDA with tests that proof the efficacy of their medicines.

Pharmaceutical trained doctors told me to be on Ventolin inhaler the rest of my life. Who says herbal medicine is a scam?
