LIES, LIES, LIES. Stop that nonsense. Who needs Societe Generale in Ghana? This bank was pushed out of Nigeria because of shady deals. The founder, Mr Olusola Saraki, was accused of many irregularities to the extent that the Nigerian government had to delist the bank. So when I heard that Societe Generale was still in Ghana, I smelt a rat. So if today, they are leaving Ghana, nobody should blame the government. That bank stinks and they know why they are leaving. Dr.Atyuahene, do your research properly about Societe Generale before you draw any conclusion. And those insulting Nana Addo are just filthy ANIMALS.

So, are the banking sectors in Tunisia and Cameroon in full-fledged crisis too? SG is leaving those countries too. The bottom line is that multinational corporations occasionally consolidate and streamline their operations leading them to exit some markets. This may create an opportunity for local banks to take over their assets and occupy the space they left. Let's also remember that SG entered the Ghana market by taking over the assets of the erstwhile Social Security Bank. They didn't start a bank in Ghana; they inherited one.

We were told in the fist place that Ghana as a state must not be into banking.
However Societe Generale is a French government bank.
The myth by the Bretton Wood Institutions is that the state should not be in business, they claim that state owned companies always go bankrupt.
However it is not the truth. In the early 1980s after the AFRC and PNDC military juntas takeovers, it was not state enterprises that suffer from the financial policies of Kwesi Botchwey, but as well foreign companies.
British, French and U.S. manufacturing as well as trading industries like UAC, King's Way, BRISCO and others suffered the same fate that Ghana's National Trading Corporation faced.
My first task as a civil servant in 1985 was to close down the British drug manufacturing company Pfizer.
