Kumase is a state in the Akan sense, just like Nsuta, Mampon, Juaben, etc. are states as well. Asanteman is a unified Akan nation, consisting of independent states. Of course, does Asanteman have a national flag. When the Asantehene and the President meets, they place the flag of Asanteman behind the Asantehene and the flag of the Republic of Ghana behind the President.
Asanteman is a nation within a larger nation state or a constitutionally protected sub-national stat. It seems you are ignorant of your own constiution. The so called Golden Stool lands were already released in the early 30s upon the restoration of Asanteman. Long before "modern Ghana" came into existence. Before the creation of the republic of Ghana, there was the Asanteman council and the Goldcoast colonial council. It was the late Asantehene, Otumfuo Nana Agyeman Prempeh II, who requested these two councils to merge to represent the interests of both the people in Asante and Gold Coast. Why do you think even a small Odikro chief can undermine the authority of the government in Asante? Why you think, when the government put in place so called "land courts" across the country, it stated, that those courts have no authority concerning any lands which fall under jurisdiction of Asanteman?
The Asante regional minister himself stated, he only exists on the goodwill of the Asantehene. He is only the political head of the Asante region, which is not equal to Asanteman! It seems you are also ignorant of the Chieftaincy Act 370 of 1971, which clearly defines the special position of the Asantehene and Asanteman for that matter.
Since, when is a "free or largely independent state" supposed to have its own passport and currency? For instance, Germany consists of 16 states of which Bavaria is a free state.

are you just tickling yourself or you simply don't know what you're talking about? Asante is a unified Akan nation? Do know what constitutes Akan as a tribe and asante as an ethnic group within the larger Akan tribe? Are the Akyems, Akwamus, Akuapims, Fantes, Bonos, part of your unified asante state? Asante may have an insignificant flag just like most traditional councils do but does your asante state have its currency which is a legal tender with its national bank and passport? Does your asante state have a seat at the UN? Please stop beating around the bush and answer the questions.

This shows your ignorance when it comes to Akan history and culture. First of all Asante is not an ethnic group or tribe! Asante was created by Akan people of different backgrounds and histories, who came together for a common purpose.
"Are the Akyems, Akwamus, Akuapims, Fantes, Bonos, part of your unified asante state?"
These are just ancient Akan states not ethnic groups or tribes. By the way, Asumegya, Agogo etc. and most Akan of the Aduana clan originate from Akwamu. Likewise a vast portion of Adum and even Bantama hail from Akwamu. Nkawie, Toase, Asueyeboa, the entire Atwima people and many others do all hail from Denkyira. Most Bono chiefs like Wenchihene are all under Asante. Dont you know, how the name "Fante" came about? It is derived from "Fa-atsew" meaning the half that left or the half that broke away. The Fante left their Asante brethren at Krako, present day Takyiman (a Fante founded city) and joined their kinsmen, who had already settled along the coast. Most of the Asantes and Fantes are of the same stock.Likewise Adanse used to be the first Akan kingdom, which ruled over all the Akan states at that time including both present day Asante and Denkyira, until it was overthrown by Denkyira. It was only after the defeat of Denkyira by Asante that Adanse people returned to their former place and joined the Asante union. You don`t understand simple things about the set up of the Akan people. People of the same matrilineal Akan clan (Adako/Oyoko, Aduana, Bretuo, Asona, Ekoana etc.) whether they are from Asante, Fante etc. share the same ancestresses and regard themselves as blood relatives.
Asanteman consists of places in the Eastern region like Koforidua (New Juaben), places in the Volta region like Worawora, almost of the entire Bono-Ahafo region (which the exception of the few reluctant chiefs who illegally broke away) and many other areas, even outside of Ghana.
"Asante may have an insignificant flag "
Maybe your colonial national flag (i.e. flag of the republic of Ghana) is insignificant, the Asante national flag is very significant! Go to any big public event in Asante and you will come across the flag of Asante.
"does your asante state have its currency which is a legal tender with its national bank and passport? Does your asante state have a seat at the UN? "
As I already stated a free or largely independent state, does not necessarily need this. Germany consists of several independent states of whom one still retains the status of a "free state" namely Bavaria. Yet they dont have their own currency or own passport. Before the creation of the Republic of Ghana, Asante already went into negotiations with other countries. However, for the sake of independence of the people of Gold Coast, we joined the then to be founded Republic of Ghana, determining many conditions before we did so. That is why, the government can do things in other parts of the country, which they cannot do in Asante. Dont you know, your Nkrumah offered the Asantehene Nana Agyeman Prempeh II to become Supreme Chief of Ghana, which he rightly rejected? Don`t you know, who brought about the burns constitution? Dont you know, who sent a delegation to london to protest against the Sedition Bill and the Water Works Bill? Don`t you know, who went into diplomatic talks with the British to grant your people of the Gold Coast independence? Yes, the late Asantehene Nana Agyeman Prempeh II. Who do you think financed your Nkrumah nationwide boykotts? Yes, mainly wealthy Asante families. My own family, gave Krobo Edusei and his people a place to stay at one of our family houses in Kumase. Nkrumah and his people often came to meet there. Once even the colonial government came there to search for Krobo Edusei and other founding members of the CPP. Nkrumah and his people had no place to go, since they were broke at that time. My late father became the first secretary of Krobo Edusei (Propaganda secretary) and campaigned for the CPP in Sekyere East. Ungrateful and hypocritcal lot you are!

Boateng asante name? hahahaha, your ignorance is not funny anymore. Please do yourself a favor and ask your grandmother about the Botin of Techiman-a mountain on the Techiman -Nkoranza road and how the name Boatin came into being and how asante itself came into being. I hate to give free information to lazy, ignorant yahoos but since you appear to be so zilch about your own culture, I'll offer you just a little and I refer you to your own asante website just right here in Ghanaweb. This is juts a gist of history for you; "gye k) didid":
Brief History of Asante
The Asante (Ashantis) constitute the largest of the various subgroups of the Akan, who trace their origins partly to Bono-Manso and Techiman, in present-day Brong Ahafo Region. They constitute 14.8 per cent of all Ghanaians by birth, and 30.1 per cent of the total Akan population of 8,562,748 in the country. Various oral traditions have it that the Ashantis migrated from various places through Bono-Manso/Takyiman (Techiman) to present day Ashanti Region.

Wahhh look at you! You want to tell me about Asante? Me, Nana Kwabena Agyeman of the Nsuta-Adako royal family of Adako-Jachie, Bonkron, Asaman-Aburaso and Nsuta itself? Me, who was named after my grand-uncle, Nana Kwabena Agyeman, who doubled as Adako-Jachiehene and Asamanhene and was the half-brother of the Asantehene, Nana Agyeman Premeh I. Whose great grand-uncle, Nana Opanin Yaw Apaw (Adako-Jachiehene) was the son of the third Asantehene and who married the Asantehemaa, Nana Ama Serwaa, whose daughter, Nana Sarpon later became Asantehemaa as well? Whose ancestress, Ama Agyeiwaa was the richest woman in the whole of Asante, who lended the Asantehene a considerable amount of gold and in appreciation for this he gave her a stool adorned with gold?
Go and ask your grandmother, how the name Takyiman came about. Ask her who founded Takyiman and came to settle there first. Ask her where the people of Nkoranza come from. Ask her to which clan the ancient Bono royal family belonged to.
You don`t even know the true origin of the Akan people, restricting it to present day Ghana. How can you trace the origin of all Asantes back to Bono -Manso? For instance, the Asante people of the Breturo/Tena clan (i.e. Mampon), the people of the Asona clan (i.e. Offinso, Ejisu) and many others have no traditions of settling in Bono-Manso. They trace their origin back to Adanse, which is far older than Bono-Manso. Go and ask your grandmother, how the name Asante "Esa/Asa Nti Fuo" came about. What about the Adako-Baule, which constitute the largest Akan group there? They originate from the Nsuta/Kumase royal family and broke away during the Adako-Oyoko war due to a succession dispute to the Golden Stool of Asante after the death of the first Asantehene. The first Preisdent of Ivory Coast was from that family, go and ask the Nsutahene. Go and ask any Adako/Oyoko ruler, how names/titles like Agyeman, Boaten, Bediako, Safo, Adebi, Akyaa, Serwaa etc. came about.
