The Politic of our domestic maize production output recorded surpluses in 2010 and 2011, despite the adverse weather conditions experienced in 2011. With production rice doubling from the 2008 level. Thereby, reducing our rice imports by almost 50 percent. Is the same old nonsense we keep hearing from this useless Government.

Where are the plans to improve the environment, where almost every river or creek in the country has polluted by illegal mining?

A very clear, concise and focused speech appropriate for the occasion. So what is all the fuss and condemnation from some politicians? Does it mean that if you are consumed by partisan emotions, you shut your ears to what the man has to say? I regard those politicians who condemn this speech immature, hypocritical and quite frankly not fit to represent their constituencies, not to talk of Ghana. This is a speech about unity and working together for the Better Ghana Agenda. Let us EMBRACE it even if we disagree with the MESSENGER.

I can understand why the opposition or certain individuals are saying that the President's speech does not have enough meat or substance in it. It is just the same old story we have been hearing. No specifics in terms of job creation targets before and after, youth unemployment situation in 2008 and now what has been achieved, the specific targets for schools under trees as they call it in 2008 and what was targeted annually and whether we did well or not. If he just said we have achieved 40% in 4 years, it is very weak. In terms of retraining of our youth on the street into employable skills, how many did we target in our investment in people policy as he said and how much achieved? In terms of the environment, what did we do to address the various illegal activities by illegal miners, forest and land degradation, etc? We should be able to give some detailed accounts on certain important national issues than just generalizing things as found in the speech. This does not help. How many Ghanaians understand GDP and all those weak statements? We should indicate certain policy specifics that the government took upon itself in 2008 and how it has been able to achieved it. If you used a whole 4 years to build just 12 district hospitals and 15 polyclinics, and we do not know how many districts in the country do not have hospitals and where some of these 12 completed ones are located, then I have a problem. 161 ambulances purchased in 4 years? Our major highways are being used by armed robbers to rob poor innocent travelers who just want to go about their normal lives. We do not have any program for equipping our MTTU or the police to effectively patrol our highways or even deploy some of our military personnel to keep our highways, roads and communities safe? What at all, can the ordinary citizen use the measure progress in his or her own community when it comes to safety? There are many issues to talk about on the speech but I will pause here and continue another time. Thank you all for reading my comment.
