TESTING SHOULD BE FREE TO ENABLE PEOPLE WHO CANNOT AFFORD TO GET TESTED.

AS means the person is a carrier and does not have sickle cell disease or disorder.

AS person has the trait as commented by Columbus. One thing the person with the trait has to pay particular attention to is when it comes time to marry. If the partner also has the trait, the possibility of some of their offsprings being carriers is always greater. Example is if both being "AS",if they have 2 chn. 1 might have AA and the other SS.
