George you have you own opinion but lemme tell you as a staunch member of the NPP family, I will tell you our leadership is heading the wrong direction and that put some of us in a very embarrassed position. Frankly; assuming the supreme court rules that the election go for 2nd round, I will definitely vote against Nana Addo this time round. Why I'm I saying this:
1: We believe the Election was rigged to favour NDC
2: We have gone to court and rightly so
3: Mahama has been sworn into office by the supreme court and that makes him the president of Ghana recognised by the laws of the land and accepted by the international community.
4: By the laws of the land,all actions taken by the president before the supreme court rules his presidency as illegal will still be legitimate.
Therefore, our leaders avoiding to be part of what the president is doing very disgraceful because if they allow mahama to do whatever he wants and tomorrow the court says he's not the president, all those actions he took will not be reversed by the court. So even if we believe the elections were rigged, it does not give us the basis to act i this disgraceful way. But like I said, I will never ever vote Nana Addo ever again.

I have read appeals from well-meaning Ghanaians asking the minority NPP MPs to rescind their boycott decision. But I'm afraid the so-called independent presidential candidate Jacob Osei Yeboah cannot be one of them. Jacob takes the position that the Ghanaian electorate rejected the NPPs presidential candidate. He implies by this that the court case has no merit, and that left to him alone the petition should not appear in court. He has taken side in the whole episode. No wonder his remarks. Would anybody take such a person serious? Obviously, Jacob Osei Yeboah cannot be included as a member of an arbitration or dispute resolution panel. He hasn't got it!

Personally, I see the court case and the boycotts as unfortunate developments. Nevertheless, I see the actions of the NPP as bordering on common sense principles, which are also good for the development of our democracy.

Unfortunate as the developments are, I cannot blame the NPP. All this is a wake up call for all Ghana to have a second look at the Constitution. Let's look at the scenario from the opposite angle and judge the constitutional provisions:

Supposing Dr Afari Gyan had declared Nana Akuffo Addo as the winner, and the incumbent Maham declared his intention and went ahead to file a petition. Would Akuffo be installed in office, and then made to defend his election in court? What would happen if the courts found Mahama as the winner but not Akuffo Addo? Mahama to come back, say, three months after being deposed - how would we see that (president, not president, president)?

Personally, but for the constitutional provision, Mahama should have just continued as a caretaker president pending the final determination of the petition before his inauguration when cleared. That way he would not be empowered to form a new cabinet. I'm sure most readers are aware that Mahama has asked some statutory boards to continue in caretakership positions. And there is nothing wrong because government business continues.

The lesson from this case is that we need to review the constitutional provisions regarding elections generally, to allow time for dispute settlement before inauguration.

The "ills" of the litigation and walkouts, notwithstanding,Ghana's democracy will be the winner at the end of the day! God bless Ghana!

The attitude shown so far and the actions of NPP MPs following instructions from the national executive committee are not in the interests of the country. Their motives are not clear but appear to be aimed at telling the whole world that there is no good governance in Ghana. This could be said to be the case during the long years of Rawlings' near monopoly of power during which many of us became fed up with the system.

I am convinced that era is long gone and Ghana's democracy and governance has been certified to be healthy, vibrant, transparent and sound. If the NPP chooses to discredit it by their actions, shame on them and they are not doing even their own political fortunes a favour.

I wounder why people keep on making mistakes that, John took only 3 months to win the elections. That anology cannot be true because, when professor mills wa alive, he was working in the hinterlands and the party's machinery was also at work. So the demise of president mills had some effect on the party, but it did not entirely run it to the ground. It rather gave the party some sympathy that NPP did not expect. Look, for every polling station, it is a branch in NDC making up 9 elected branch executives and 5 copted members to work at that branch for the 26002 branches accross the country; while NPP had only polling station chairman to work at each polling station. So it will not be easy to just say that John used only 3 months to ruin Akufo Addo's 3 years campeing. The simple truth is that, the NDC grass root machinery was working while the NPP message was hollow and not taking serious at the grass root level. I urge people on this forum to be cicumspect, fair and truthful and stop insulting John and the NDC. We won the elections with hard work and good message to the people of Ghana. I don't think the allegation of rigging and stealing the election was true at all. For every polling station, there are party agents for NPP, PPP, CPP, NDC, UFP, INDP etc. At the close of elections, the ballots are pored on the table open to the electorates at the polling station. The ballots are openly sorted for each candidate and counted thereafter. Finally the votes of each candidate is announced at the polling station in the presence of the voters (general public), media, independent observers both local and international and all party agents signs the pink/blue sheets and take their copies to their various parties. At this point, the electoral offers will then take their copies to the constituency collation centre where the parliamentary candidates of the various parties that contested the elections, the parties constituency chairmen, secretaries, organisers and people they accredited to be at the collation centre were. The pink sheets for both presidential and parliamentary elections from the polling stations are then handered over to the district or municipal electoral officer in the constituency. Here too, the votes obtained by each candidates from the polling stations are tallied on a carbonated form totalled by all the party agents alike at the collation centre, summarised and recorded on another pink/blue sheet for the whole constituency in presence of all the party agents including the MPs who contested, party executives of the contested parties present at the collation centre, local and international observers, media with very tight security; then it is signed by the municipal/district electoral office or his assistant, all party agents designate to sign at constituency collation centre and copies given to all party agents representing each party at the collation centre for the final result in that constituency. Finally, the municipal/district electoral officer will then take his copy to the regional electoral office where the EC has set up a regional collation centre and present his copy to the regional electoral officer as the true results of his/her constituency for the parliamentary and presidential elections in the presence of the regional executives of all the political parties accredited to be in the regional collation centre. Here these accredited party representatives endorse the pink/blue sheets from the constituencies in the region beofre the regional electoral officer faxes them to the EC's strong room in Accra; where the national executives of each party is represented. At the strong room of EC HQ in Accra, each region has it own fax machine; so when a fax comes from Central region for example, all the parties accredited agents in the strong room will have to see it call their representatives/agents in the region to confirm before they endorse/sing on it, then it will be put in a file and sent to the Electoral Commissioner (Dr. Afari Gyan) to also sing as certified result for subsequent anouncement to the general public. So, looking at the this process and how each party is reperesented at each level, how can NDC rig or steal the elections. I advise fellow Ghanaians posting comments on this platform to be circumspect and stop insulting others. Let NPP prsent their evidence to SC and the judges judge case in fairness and see whether NPP can ever win the case!

We the decerning Ghaianians, unlike him, are following events unfolding in the political arena religiously to consolidate our understanding of real democracy. If he is not prepared to learn he NUST shut up and sit quietly in his room. The Judiciary is also playing its part in the democratic process, so let us all wait for the verdict for posterity.
