If any, the only African dream is to get into politics and steal lots of money. Almost all rich men and women in Africa made their money through politics and nothing else! Africa is cursed forever!

THE CURRENT SITUATION IS THAT WE APPLY WESTERN SOLUTIONS TO OUR LOCAL PROBLEMS. OUR LEADERS COPY ECONOMIC SOLUTIONS FROM THE WEST AND THESE SOLUTIONS ARE NOT SUITABLE TO OUR UNIQUE ENVIRONMENT.WE ADOPT "PRIVATISATION" IN OUR COUNTRY WHERE INCOMES ARE LOW BECAUSE AMERICA IS APPLYING "PRIVATISATION" FORGETTING THAT IN AMERICA THERE ARE RICH PEOPLE WHO CAN FUND THE ESTABLISHMENT OF AN OIL REFINERY.
SOMETIMES WE DO NOT HAVE TO BLAME OUR LEADERS BECAUSE IF THEY PURSUE ECONOMIC POLICIES DIFFERENT FROM THAT OF AMERICA, THE AMERICA CIA WILL TOPPLE THEM AS WE FOUND IN THE CASE OF HOW AND WHY THE GREAT KWAME NKRUMAH WAS TOPPLED.
SO,AFRICA WILL NEVER SUCCEED AS LONG AS THESE COUNTRIES ARE WATCHING OUR LEADERS FOR ANY DEVIATION FROM WESTERN POLICIES NOT IN THEIR INTERESTS AND DEPOSE THOSE LEADERS OR IMPOSE SANCTIONS AS HAS BEEN DONE IN ZIMBABWE.

It's so disheartening and despicably outrageous to read from some contributors here to notice how politically ignorant is our people that some even say Africa have no dream, others say Africa will never succeed and the only dream is the American dream, how pathetic.
Africans really need education and political youth organizations to transform our ways of thinking and reform our human resources, our attitudes to see that Africa is the future world as Africa was indeed the beginning of the world civilization.
The American dream was conceived by an African-American, great Martin Luther King, for first racial equality, human rights, justice and respect for the African-American and therefore was indeed an African dream.
Yes! Africa had a dream and our great men and women like Osagyefo Kwame Nkrumahs, Patrice Lumumbers, Amerika Cabrals, Jurious Nyareres, Modibo Kaitas, Gaddafis, Samora Michels, Steve Bikos, Maathias Wankaris, Chris Hannis, Kenyattas, Yaa Asantewas, Kwame Adjimas, and many-many more laid down their lives with their blood for the achievement of the African dream strongly based on African unification and Socialist Pan-Africanism as the concept.
The first achievement we had of the dream was freedom and independence from brutal colonial oppression. The second which is economic independence which would have seen progressive social developmental transformation of our people and continent is unfortunately trapped and high jacked in the web of the imperialist institutions like the writer, rightly put here, the IMF and the World Banks allowing America and their Western criminally crook counterparts to manipulate stooges of African Presidents and governments to kill the African dream of economic emancipation for real freedom that would have establish the credibility and dignity of the African people and continent.
Africa strongly need economic and political integration for our common goals to create common African market, common African communication, common transportation for free movement of our people and goods to achieve the African dream.
African dream will come one day. It will surely come through a spontaneous and massive people's revolution to establish the true peoples power in Africa which will be capable to say enough is enough of social political oppression and exploitative nonsense. The dream will come when no any outside military force will invade Africa for a possible violent and bloody regime change of an African sovereign state.
When the Black African slaves sang "We Shall Overcome" little did the American white slave master understood till the day an African was sworn as the American President.
The legend OSIBISA put it in a more better way, Heavens Know How We Will Get There!!!! We Shall Overcome!!!

Ajit Babu, please get your facts right. The writer never said the American dream was conceived by Martin Luther. So please dont misquote the writer.
What the writer said was and I quote: "Indeed the American dream was one of the stepping-stones for American revolutionists in the likes of Dr Martin Luther King Jr. whom while fighting against racial injustice, proclaimed in his famous “I have a dream” speech."
Where in this quote did the writer suggest that the American dream was founded by Martin Luther? If something is a stepping stone for an individual, it does not mean it was founded by that individual. This is what the writer said. So Please learn your English well.

AS it is in AFRICA,OUR DREAM CAN COME TRUE ONLY WHEN we can copy them wisely, look out for fair TRADE transactions & invest wisely to catch up.AND STOP OUR BIG HIPC MOUTH and de PRIDE.BUT IS OUR GREEDY LEADERS AWARE OF ALL THIS? OR just thinking on making money, keep on Stealing, more money for themselves, famillies and thier PARTIES.I AM SORRY WE HAVE A LONG WAY TO dis DREAM-LAND.NOT A CURSE,BUT DE MINDSET IS TOO MUCH ON TRIBALISM and witchery Powers ASWEL. NOT BAD to start with proper type of SCHOOLING and NOT just to speak big ENGLISH to please our Parents and colonial masters.THE BLACK STAR WILL SHINE ONLY WHEN WE BE COME AWARE OF OUR DARKNESS IN THE DARK CONTINENT.
