Anytime NPP is not in power, stupid things happen. All of a sudden serial fires spring up everywhere in a country that has not known such fires for a long time, and some want us to believe no one is behind?

I was not a fun of him until I saw him rule. For once, people said he was going to be a slave to Rawlings. Never happened. He put children first. Ghana recorded one of our best growths under him. He tried to catch the waste in the system and he died still serving his country. May he rest in peace and people like you need not to stop talking to the dead because they can not talk back. Yes most of the transformers are of Chinese and to correct you, South Korean and Romanian made. But that is not the case here, because, if much of Sub Saharan African include our economic powerhouse of South Africa are using the same product, then one must not go waving a blaming finger at the transformer providing or producing countries above. In fact, the very problem with everything Ghana is proper maintenance. Not too long ago, folks were complaining about the rampant "Dumsor" characterising almost every major city or town in Ghana and how best the situation can be avoided all together.

So, the government of the day once again steps onto the plate and like always, started sourcing for more power to the grid, but paid very little attention to the usual and always poor maintenance, obsolete transformers and equipment at the Electricity Company of Ghana. Hence, the consequence we are witnessing at our many power transformer depots today. So, the finger of blame concerning this latest guttered transformer station should equally go to both the government of the day and the EC for a poor job done, period.

The diasporan professionals who are willing to return home to put their expertise at the service of Mother Ghana are not welcomed by the Gov't. Yearly shutdowns are non-existent so that major electrical equipment can be serviced or maintained. Operational parameters must be trended to ensure that equipment are operating within acceptable limits. If maintenance budgets are curtailed then no one should blame local engineers. Lightning arrestors (or surge arrestors)protecting power transformers and related substation electrical equipment must be inspected for cracks, etc., on a regular basis. Are oil-filled power transformers periodically tested, reconditioned or replaced as part of preventative measures? Ghanaians should not politicise any electric fire-related occurrence. Apathy is the order of the day in Ghana instead of taking proactive measures to ensure that such catastrophies do not happen. You tell me - How often are power substation equipment power-washed, using proper water at right temperature(s)? More financial losses are incurred thru negligence. Is Ghana progressing or retrogressing? You be the judge.

Transformer designs ensures that a particular transformer facility is protected against voltage spikes, and excess load.

For ECG to wait for excess load to burn an expensive link in the supply of Electrical Energy to Consumers is untenable and an immediate investigation and interdiction of those involved to be undertaken.

Even if these protections are in place, calibration reports should be inspected and confirmed that the calibration scheduiles of these protective devices are being done according to plan.

I call for nothing short of discipline of officials involved.

I personally think what we are experiencing these days are hints from heaven to tell the people of Ghana that the end time is so near.
Let us not forget that, it is said in the holy Bible that God will destroy the world and everything in it this time with FIRE.
This is the right time for us to check on our lifestyles and prepare our souls for the Lord's second coming.I know very well that many will not side with me on this issue,but it's real.Even though it's good for the government to embark on such investigations,we must also WATCH AND PRAY.
