2' He succeeded in creating "hatred and enimity" between Ghanaians and Nigerians
3.He introduced politics of HATE into African politics where tribalism became the order of the day.
4.He introduced the acts of "BLACK ON BLACK DISCRIMINATIONS" in Ghana, (which has NEVER happen before in the history of black Africans since creation, where we inter-mingled together for generations after generations, and even inter-married without discriminations), where he labelled his fellow Africans "ALIENS" in mama Africa and SACKED them from Ghana.

Not even attempts by some compare Mandela with him could stop the BBC poll from having him emerge as such. At home even President Kufuor could not help but bask in his glory in that giant poster at the Tetteh Quarshie over-pass showing him seated next to Nkrumah during the AU 50th anniversary!!!! So yes kudos to Busia for staying his ground including with some briliant ideas, but he and Danquah are local heroes, Nkrumah is both a local and international hero.Nkrumaah and only Nkrumah is the leader you will hear being said of by Africans and non=Africans alike,as living ahead of his time!

There's no reason to blame "socialism" or stupidity for the truth that Busia drove out fellow Africans from our country, especially in respect of the Nigerians, when they were at their most vulnerable. He lacked the foresight to realise that because of the manner in which the slavers and colonialists had decimated African societies, our only path to rapid development and recovery from the trauma, was to combine our strengths.

He bought into the "free market" nonsense that continues to dog the world to this day, championing the cult of the individual which would have perpetuated the privileged status that he and his ilk enjoyed.

The reason Nkrumah's name has survived the concerted efforts of the CIA, British and other western power centres in alliance with the Danquah/Busia conspiracy is that, his message was self evidently true and enduring.

Contrast that with the selfish, half-baked vision espoused by Busia and his cronies and you will understand why despite his Oxford education, his name will always be a mere footnote when the story of Africa comes to be written.

Busia saw it safe and came back. His party elders expected him to render accounts of the monies he collected on behalf of the political refugees, most of which were in Nigeria. None was forthcoming and nobody was bold enough to bring the matter for discussion.

One day at an executive meeting, Joe Appiah asked him to tell them about the money. "Where is the money," he asked.

Busia exclaimed with so much pain written all over his face: "Oh Joe, you don't trust me?" Joe with his ever ready sharp mind shot back: "we are not talking about trust, we are talking about money collected on behalf of our political refugees."

So those who are placing halo over his head must know that Busia is human and flawed like the rest of us.

For someone who was born on the day Dr. Nkrumah fiormed his CPP,I am inclined to sing his praises ad infinitum but just as much as I have praises for him in some areas, there are also countless areas I have serious issues with his methods and vision. He arroigated to himself, and himself alone all powers, all wisdom, all vision, all authority. That was wrong and he could have used inputs from others and become the greatest leader he aspired to be. If only he had broaden his circle of advisors and relegated the sycophants to the backbench, Ghana would have advanced into a modern properous society.

Dr. Busia had his flaws but his alternative vision could have put Ghana in a different stratosphere. He recognized that Ghana is not only Accra but all the regions and in fact the life blood of the nation came from the rural areas. He sought to introduce morality, accountability into the body politick. He also launched a campaign to fight bribery and corruption, something so endemic in our country today. The rule of law is the basic tenet of democratic dispensation and no leader understood that better than Dr. Busia. The one man show of politics will not do Ghana any good, not Nkrumah and definitely not that lunatic Rawlings!!!

That said, we are all witnessing that multi-party democracy is what is being practiced in Ghana at the moment. One party state or preferably communism is dying gradually.

Nkrumah was a power drunk idiot who had no vice president while in office and the reason was best known to him only. Busia was a Prime Minister during the second republic and was kicked out of office by the useless military we have in Ghana by Acheampong, Agbo and Serlomey.

I remember him promising during his campaign to reduce the distance between districts centres which were more than 100 miles apart. I have never since been able to understand where he got his statistics from, with Ghana's North and South borders under 400 miles apart and East and West less than 300 miles apart, and with no regional boundaries more than 100 apart in any direction.
Rawlings was just a blood-thirsty rogue. Mills was a pretender. As for President Ma'ma, let us wait and see!

By taking Ghana from the West to Russia and China as the road to Ghana's freedom was a misdirection given by our first leader, destroying our cocoa economy and depleting the resources of our country. It is almost like a dream that Busia saw the end of what was to come to Communism and socialism and our beloved country would have been a paria among all the countries in Africa if we had not been saved by the coup makers that kicked Nkrumah and his CPP out of power. We are now back to the teachings of Busia because multiparty democracy he preached and advocated is now prevailing in Ghana to the demaise of one party state that his opponent Kwame Nkrumah and his CPP advocated. In Ghana it is the Professor who should be hailed as the savior and Osagyefo of Ghana not Kwame Nkrumah who misled us into communism and socilism and destroyed Ghana's economy; wasting seven hundred million pounds bequesthed to Ghana by Great Britain, our colonial masters. Busia's approach to South African issue through diplomacy was also commendable for after all the blacks and whites are now living as brothers and sisters; citizens, in South Africa a vision which Busia saw.

Secondly, it was not alleged that J.B was a traitor, a nation wrecker but the facts/evidence indeed show that he was truly, a traitor, an agent of the imperialists. Even when he lost his elections to parliament, Osagyefo Dr Kwame Nkrumah offered him a directorship of the Ghana Arts and Culture but he turned it down and instead show to supply secret information about new independent Ghana to the imperialist.

I am not sure how that position would have benefited him and the rest of the opposition members. However it was so opened to the world how this sons of the nation tried to keep the doors opened for the Brits to keep looting the nation. I will love to beg this question "How good will civic education be for Ghana and Ghanaians if we are so submissive to a foreign power whose motivations were for the resources"? Let's rethink and to view Centre for Civic Education which was the greatest work of Dr. Busia during his reign. No court was allowed to overturn this decision. The cedi was devalued by 44%,bringing untold hardships to Ghanaians. Busia even barred opposition leader Gbedemah from membership of the National Assembly. These culminated in his overthrow. Akosombo Dam, Tema Habour, Tema Oil Refinery, Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital, VALCO, just to mention a few were the handiworks of Kwame Nkrumah. I have searched and cannot find any handiwork attributable to Busia. Somebody help me!

By insisting that the Western democracy was better for Ghana, the vision of Busia has been vindicated because, Ghana has made a round about turn in governance after years of experimenting on communism and socialism by Busia's adversary Kwame Nkrumah.

By taking Ghana from the West to Russia and China as the road to Ghana's freedom, was a misdirection given by our first leader, and destroying consumer confidence in Ghana and depressing our cocoa economy and depleting the resources of our country.

It is almost like a dream that Busia saw the end of what was to come to Communism and socialism and our beloved country would have been a pariah among all the countries in Africa if we had not been saved by the coup makers that kicked Nkrumah and his CPP out of power.

We are now back to the teachings of Busia because multiparty democracy which the British left us and this he preached and advocated is now prevailing in Ghana to the demise of one party state that his opponent Kwame Nkrumah and his CPP advocated.

In Ghana it is the Professor who should be hailed as the savior and Osagyefo of Ghana not Kwame Nkrumah who misled us into communism and socilism and destroyed Ghana's fragile economy; wasting seven hundred million pounds bequeathed to Ghana by Great Britain, our colonial masters; on African politics and building industries without trained management.

Busia's approach to South African issue through diplomacy was also commendable for after all the blacks and whites are now living as brothers and sisters in a united community; citizens, in one country, South Africa, a vision which Busia saw.

Now the question is, why and how would a first president of a new nation,with the idea of freedom and justice,later built medium security prisons which later housed Danquah and others.
The answer was simple and clear.For, one could easily infer that based on the UP's records against Kwame Nkrumah,being in opposition meant to be hostile,then.
Many tactics and strategies were employed with the veiw to eliminate the President Dr Kwame Nkrumah.Notable among them:
A presidential guide (Amatewie)at the then flag staff house,shot and missed his target,Kwame.A bomb was planted in a flower and given to a little girl,to present to Kwame on his arrival in a town in the north called Klungugu.That also failed to hit the intended target,Kwame.The innocent little girl died,thought.Similar incident happened at the Accra Sport Stadium that could not get Kwame,while people died and a lot more were wondered.All those atrocities was planned and sponsored by Prof Busia in exile,and Danquah and co-horts in the Country.That's the reason Danquah was put into prison by Nkrumah.
Some of us are living eyewitnesses of the treacherous and diabolical activities on the life of Kwame Nkrumah,by the Asante/Akim confederation UP party.It is worthy of note that they claim to be democratic to this day,but preferred to eliminate their opponent by arms instead of the balot box,then.
Now,when Busia had the Chances after the overthrow of Kwame ,what were some of his legacies.He sacked 568 Civil Servants(apollo 568)for no apparent reasons,and flout the Supreme Court order to reinstate them.Tranfered his one (1)year Salary(jan-dec)in the month Jan of that year to his bank Accounts in Britain.(And they call themselves democrats).Busia introduced the Alien Compliance Order(ACO)
which sort to repatriate all alien in the Country.It mostly affected our West African neighbouring Nigerians and the Lebanese from the middle east.to mention only but a few.Those were the Caliber of people who ruled the Country then.
So please give us a break! Busia is nothing to talk about.He's no doubt a great academician BUT lacked Common Sense approach in public administration.And the 2nd of the nation wreckers the Country had ever had.Give us a break !

Nkrumah did his part and Busia did his part. It is up to us to do our bit just like our National Anthem says. I sometimes wish Busia had granted Nkrumah's request to help build a nation together. Two minds are better than one. If Nana thinks Busia was completely right after over 50 years since independence, I say, look at Ivory Coast and see the reflection of Busia's Ghana. Let us stop this politics of division and look forward. This is a bad political calculation to confuse the Brong Ahafo's and it will not woork.

Nothing can pull out from our minds and hearts the great ideas of President Kwame Nkrumah and his great actions. Nobody is prophet in his own country! President Kwame Nkrumah is known the worldwide and respected for his vision, ideal,leadership. On contrary Busia is known only by Ashantees/Akyems and NPP gurus and members.

One has claimed to be Elisha the other is now claiming Busia's vision was an alternative to the President Kwame Nkrumah's. Just talk, talk and nothing concrete.

Busia's notion of rural development was to develop his hometown Wenchi, massively devalue the cedi leading to high inflation and run the economy down.

Busia's infamous and retrograde policy of dialogue with apartheid South Africa led to the resignation of Victor Owusu. This was a period of shame for our country, a reversal of Nkrumah's fight for the liberation of the whole continent of Africa from colonial domination.

Busia was a weak, effeminate lackey in the pay of imperialists. It was just as well he was kicked out.

Truly, truly speaking: "Asojafour aha Ghana papaapa!" Soldiers or the Military have caused us dearly, in terms of nation development, advacement and progress. Ghana would have been at par with South Korea in terms of development, had it not been the baseless coups staged by Kutu Acheampong and Jerry John Rawliings. Dr. Kwame Nkrumah's overthrow occured because of what international observers say, was his complete loss of focus and the kind of tyrant he'd become, by jailing innocent citizens without trial, among others. Nkrumah was gradually turning Ghana into a Communist State, urged on by late W.E.B. Du Bois who thought, as written in his books that Communism was better the world and importantly for Ghana And Africa.

Meanwhile, Kwame Nkrumah lived and studied in the US and started off as president very well with his capitalist ideology, only to make a "U-turn" abandoning his Western ideology, distancing himself from the West where he'd studied and sought financial assistance and partnership towards Ghana's development. Nkrumah started his Communism by asking every Ghanaian family to provide a list all their belongings to his govt. Wow! Meanwhile Ghanaians began suffering as the economic situation in Ghana worsened.

The very man who'd promised Ghanaians "work and happiness" and a better life couldn't keep his promise. He rather started jailing people who opposed his bad ideas and way of governance. He instituted detention without trial, which made sure that J. B. Danquah was kept in prison, where he later died. This is the Nkrumah that the CPP and some NDC folks adore as a great leader. Kwame Nkrumah became furious when he realised that his economic policies had failed!

I remember as a small boy when Ghana, with the technical cooperation of the UK, was able to produce "Adom" and "Boafo" vehicles which were displayed at the International Trade Fair at the the Labadi Trade Fair Site. This is an eye witness account: it was "fiili-fiili"! That was the kind of ideas that could help make Ghana, our beloved country great and strong.

The CPP still believes in the old obsolete Nkrumah ideas which run contrary to modern development. And the NDC, added to that believes in the enhanced portion; the "buga-buga" part, which kills the spirit of indegenous entrepreneurship. Mama Mia; what a party with bogus ideology!

Indded Prof. K. A. Busia had a better vision for Ghana. He believed in free enterprise. Backed by the Soviet Union (Russia), Nkrumah on the other hand, believed in communism, that's why he built the Nsawam Cannery, Gihoc Distillery, Aboso Glass Factory, Bonsa Tire Factory among others. He was building on the Cuba and North Korea model of doing things. Right now, Russia has turned to the Western way of doing things.

Communism breeds laziness and retards natioanl progress. Folks should ask: "how many communist countries exist on this planet; and how are their citizens fairing among the rest of the capitalist world?" Folks should do the calculations. I rest my arguement!

However history tells us that barely a year after Nkrumah won massive results in the elections and beocoming prime minister an attemp was made on his life by the danquah-Busia group. R R Amponsah and Ahwaietey plotted to assassinate him at the Accra airport on his return from a visit to Britain. After that Nkrumah knew no peace as attempt after attempt was made on his life. Having no other way of protecting the lives of innocent civilians who were couaght in some of the violence, he passed the PDA and locked Danquah and others in detention so that he could have his peace and develop the country. But even this action did not stop the violence. So in a word Nkrumah was not allowed the free hand to rule after winning democratic elections. He knew no peace. The Busia group drove him to the actions which Akuffo-Addo today calls undemocratic? When Busia eventually got his chance and was elected PM in 1969 what did we see? No court, no court as he refused to accept and comply with the Supreme court decision on the famous 568 dismissed workers case. This man was no democrat, he failed the very first test - refusal to accept thjudiciary's verdict in a court case!!!!!!!
