John Dramani Mahama has no shame and no credibility otherwise he would have appointed this one and only good NDC man Attorney General, not today or yesterday but the very day he assumed the mantle of leadership of this country. But alas, he himself is soiled with corruption big time, hence wouldn't want somebody like Amidu looking over his shoulders. The only way Mahama can win the trust, respect and confidence of the people back in fighting corruption, is to get this man back as soon as possible in the AG's department. Anything less than that is just lip service.

Organized labour as the name suggests must be law abiding itself if it wants to be taken seriously. If they have no hidden agenda, why would they ignore police directives which are informed by the Public order Act of 1993 covering public events? By this act and as a last resort for the purpose of public safety and security the police can through the Courts stop demonstrations through injunctions. The Police have laid a legal basis for stopping the demonstrations. In the extreme case the leaders can be arrested and prosecuted. All should get an education on the Public Order Act now, so that no one would start blaming Govt for any premptive police action as an affront on freedom of speech and right to demonstrate.We are in democracy as well as RULE OF LAW. So if the purpose of the demonstration is to draw attention to the plight of workers, what is wrong in doing so at different times in the regions? What is the leadership of the labour Movement afraid of? That it would not be patronised unless done on the same day? Well, the Police have come out with a valid and legal argument aginst them, let the labour leadership be levelheaded and stop this postering and confrontational attitude. For now, the police have already beaten them to it.

The TUC should go with the police suggestion. In the long run it will be to the advantage of labour as week in week out there will be a demonstration somewhere which will suck the energy from all other news.

The reason the Police are adducing to scuttle and prevent the organization of this demonstration is neither here nor there, and it is obvious that it has political underpinnings from the failed Mahama led NDC gov't, which would want to project to all and sundry that, all is well in the country.
The statement by Haruna Iddrisu; the Minister of Employment and Labour relations to the effect that, "this demonstration shouldn't happen" sums up exactly what the sentiments and position of the Mahama led NDC gov't is, with respect to this demonstration using the Police as proxy.
Exactly what does the Police mean when they say they cannot provide protection and it is going to be difficult? And on what basis is the Police saying that, the organization of the demonstration on the refusal of organized labour to take their concerns into consideration will in anyway cause mayhem when the demonstration comes off?
Or is the Mahama led NDC gov't and the Police thinking that, this demonstration is similar to those that their footsoldiers engage in, whereby they destroy their own party offices, gov't vehicles, etc, etc? Even those demonstrations they provide security and protection.
The reasons the Mahama led NDC gov't is adducing via the Police to prevent the organization of the demonstration lacks merit and should the Police still insist on not providing the needed security and protection as per their mandate, and thus make it possible for organized labour to exercise their fundamental, unalloyed, complete and constitutional human right to demonstrate in the face of bad governance that has led to the worsening and unbearable standard of living, then steps should be taken by the demonstrators to provide for their own protection and security absolutely.
The demonstration needs to come off and the Police should provide the maximum protection for its organization instead of pandering to the whims and caprices of the gov't. The demonstration should come off like already.

And until such a time that the economy is open to private investors with less regulations, no government led by any of the poitical parties would escape this.
When the state becomes the sole provider of particularly, the basic necessities of life,the propensity to derail the already fragile economy would ever be on the ups.
Though the reality would be looking in the face of the people, lack of alternative "moyen" and the need for satisfaction regardless, would turn even the harmless worm into a venomous snake. One wonders, myself included, how a country going by the name of GOLD COAST,producer of GOLD,cocao,timber and now the Black Gold, "PETROL and GAS" could now be on her knees, with cup in hand? Why is it so?Ghanaians,most of them, I dare say are literates and well revered abroad and pride themselves with great men like Kofi Annan etc are waiting for to unite as a country and put the welfare of our people first!. Our woes lie in polarized party politics. The rivalry of party politics has become cancerous. One group is always wishing the downfall of the other in power (government) The bitterness of defeat at the polls lingers on like cancerous cells. The day I will personally salute Kofi Asamoah, of the TUC is when I hear him demonstrate love for his country and country men. That is when he will reason to call on members of the TUC to work towards increased productivity as a justification of their request for increase salaries for workers. Indeed it is reasonable now to say Kofi Asamoah is rather contributing to the hardship workers are experiencing. It simply does not make sense go on senseless demonstrations and one hand and on the other hand ask for increased salaries. Kofi Asamoah is old enough to appreciate the essence of patriotism and love for country and so should stop calling for national demonstration when he is himself not physically fit enough to engage in these demos. It must be an issue of dialogue, and brain work and power to reverse the tide and set the pace for a turn around. I believe Kofi Asamoah and his likes are old enough and ought to honorable men and indeed statemen with a greater love for their country. This recklessness is a very bad example to the young one who we are teaching to be patriotic. A word to the wise is in the "north".

Mr. IGP, Organized Labour demonstrations don't need police protection, because it is a peaceful demonstration. The demonstration may go haywire if you attempt to use force to stop the workers from expressing their feelings on the biting economic situation in the country.
Your advice for the organizers to stage on regional basis does not hold water because it will mean the Organized Labour using ten days for the nationwide strike. It will be more economical for the whole country to experience the demonstrations on Thursday so that workers can go back to work the next day and the following week.
Please, Mr. IGP don't do things that would force the workers demonstration to result in a coup d'etat with serious consequences. Allow the nationwide demonstrations to go on unimpeded,because it is their constitutional right, and nobody should stop them.

NDC came to destroy all the good policies instituted by NPP including GETFUND, School Feeding Program, Free Maternal Care, National Insurance Scheme, District Assembly Common Fund and the Metro Mass Transportation system. They have managed to destroy all of these programs. How callous could they be? And finally they have stolen all assets belonging to Ghana to themselves. They have stolen Ghana's bulky money in the treasury and last but not the least, they have created Gyeeda, Woyome, Sada, Subah, Merchant Bank, all in the name of judgement debt but rather criminally sharing the monies among themselves.
