At worse, I was hoping that you would proudly stand your ground, albeit, as an unrepentant slave and openly declare your stand as such. However what I got was a convoluted mish-mash of defensive gobbledygook by a patently weak, cowardly and desperate soul who seems to be frantically trying to escape through the backdoor from the circumstances of his own historical misfortunes. My friend, there is no escape route through the back door. Perhaps with some luck, your grandchild may come to understand it better than you.

I cannot fail to acknowledge your appreciation for my writing. I can only thank you for that comment. That modest ability was created right here in Ghana and I will use it to the best of my ability for the benefit of my people before any other people. You mean to say, you are not aware that that there are well-known international codes of ethics, laws and regulations governing relations between nations? What by the way is the level of your education? Let us assume that you have had a basic level of secondary education. If that be the case, why is it that you are not aware of this basic fact? Even among individuals, there are basic unwritten and written codes of civilized conduct and laws that seek to restrain and discourage people from interfering and meddling in other peoples private affairs for the ultimate desire to maintain peace among all people and nations. If you Yaw, at this age where you can apparently read and write a little, cannot understand why there is the need for all these regulations, let me tell you why.

Well my friend, it is because if everyone decided to meddle in everybody’s matter, like the way the British and their American cousins came here and stole human beings and mineral resources for well over 500 years and as they continue to meddle all over the world, the world will not be a nice place to live in - to say the least. You get it? How would you for instance take it if, you hear that your next-door neighbor has been gossiping about you in the community that, you dont feed and treat your children well and that not only is your wife unattractive but her sense of dressing is atrocious. If you respect yourself, you wont take it lying down. If, as in your case, you don’t respect yourself, you will think nothing of it and rather applaud the unpleasant gossip against your integrity.

Why do some of you think that Ghanaians and for that matter Africans, must quietly lie down prostrate and continue to allow all sorts of brigands, colonial terrorists and evil people to gang-bang us throughout our history?

It is only people like you Yaw and those impetuous pea-brained imperialist errand boys at IMANI, who have obviously been brought up in a manner that has cost them the ability to have any self-worth, self-esteem and self-confidence, who would think that others have the right to abuse us anytime they wish. People like you have not recovered from the trauma of slavery. You simply cannot be seen to be standing up on your own two feet to resist the colonial oppressors dictatorship. For you, they have the right to continue insulting our intelligence, exploiting us and belittling us and it is no problem for some of you. Unfortunately some of us think differently.

It is bad enough to have a govt like the one we have ruling us but when others who are historically notorious for committing worse and even more appalling crimes against humanity, drift into the fray to try to tell us our mistakes as if we don’t know what to do ourselves, any self-respecting Ghanaian worth his name and colour, must stand up against this nonsense.

Even when we had a leader and a govt that surpassed their pace of development, America thought it wise to meddle and to get rid of the best thing that we ever had. It appears that they still think that we are still their colony of slaves and the worse part of this is that this sickening thought is encouraged by some of you dumb asses and unrepentant house-niggers.

Even though we are directly related by blood and spirit to the over 55 million descendants of slaves - the living evidence of the most shameful and despicable crime against humanity, in America, how many times have we protested against the continuing isolation by racism, the remorseless lynching by legally registered white supremacist organizations like the Ku Klux Klan and the racially motivated murders by both the American security system and red-neck white citizens of our black brothers and sisters in the US?

Because we are guided more by the civilized norms of discretion and international law, we have maintained a cautious silence in the face of the unacceptable tyrannical oppression of our lineage in America. I think that America should take a cue from this respectable posture instead of the continuation of their typical Rambo style diplomatic relations with us.

Ghanaians who are proud to be Ghanaians are deeply offended by the remarks that have come from the American Embassy. Had it come from the Togolese Embassy, the Nigerian Embassy, the South African Embassy and other genuinely friendly nations, we may not have made such a hash of it. However, coming from the American Embassy, no excuse can mitigate the deeply ingrained insult and breach of diplomatic relations.

In any case, to give the lame excuse that it was a diplomatic member of staff that mistakenly and unofficially misused the communications apparatus of the embassy to issue that retort is to admit that the administrative set-up of the American embassy is as bad as that of the Mahama govt.

The anger of those who plan to demonstrate on Friday would be justified if it was directed at the Mahama NDC administration for its gross administrative failures and for taking corruption to unprecedented levels. The re- tweet by the US Embassy staffer is the truth but was not necessary. I think the apology was made in good faith and must be accepted in the same spirit . Can we move on and deal with the worsening economic conditions? . The planned demonstration isn't going to yield anything other than straining Ghana-US relations and do we really need that now?
We are angry but shouldn't we rather direct the anger at the person who has caused the poor circumstances rather than the person poking fun? The poor in Ghana have been pushed to the wall by the error prone NDC administration's economic policies and as if that's not enough sacrifice we are being smashed into the wall. President Mahama has not made any sacrifice so what sacrifice is he talking about? We should sacrifice together when times are tough and enjoy together when when the sacrifice begins to yield dividends. President Mahama increased his salary and that of others who were already comfortably perched above the poverty line by about 60 percent. About 2 years later he cut his salary by about 10 percent
Will any sane person call that a sacrifice?We deserve to be angry but let it be a justifiable anger appropriately directed at those who make us poorer everyday .
