The killing of this innocent man was gruesome and barbaric. It is regrettable that a young soldier with a promising career should lose his life this way. Our thoughts and prayers are with the bereaved family.

The killing of this innocent man was gruesome and barbaric. It is regrettable that a young soldier with a promising career should lose his life this way. Our thoughts and prayers are with the bereaved family.

Personally, I see the entire episode as a catalogue of errors and assumptions. I'm confident that Capt Mahama would have been alive if he had taken a colleague along to accompany him, instead of a pistol for protection. The snail seller did raise the alarm but I doubt if she explicitly called the assembly man and his cohorts to come and lynch the stranger in town. The assembly man and the mob acted on the snail sellers alarm without verifying Capt Mahama's identity. The rest of us have the benefit of hindsight. The deceased and the culprits did not.

Therefore there are useful lessons here for us all. Perhaps the president can establish a commission in the near future, to dig deeper into the broader circumstances that led to this harrowing episode in our history, including similar ones in the past. That way, we can incorporate the recommendations into legislation and public sensitisation efforts.

The reasoning, character traits and persona of the Assemblyman is precisely what the NPP cultivated across Ghana in the years prior to gaining control of government. There is no remorse in any speech that will be given by Akufo-Addo surrogates nor by Akufo-Addo, the president because he cannot and will never say that events unfolding before us in Ghana is not the expected outcome of all the NPP. NPP preparations, training and foments brought in by mercenaries at the invitation of NPP executives and stakeholders is what we are witnessing. How is the lynching different from the all-die-be-die or Kennedy Agyapong messages to the NPP base back then or now as he encourage the base to be law enforcers for the NPP government. The kokoase dimwits in Obuase did do their assigned duties not as human beings with brains or moral compass but by the moral standards of NPP and quest for power at all cost dictates. Nana Akufo-Addo and his inner circle simply cannot bring an end to the evils they sold their souls to get. Will Nana Akufo-Addo give up the glory of achieving the highest office in the land his mentor, J B. Danquah, did not but for which he thinks he is ordained to make whole through acts of terror? No the politics of NPP has no regrets and could give a damn about wasted lives they leave behind.
