The fact that this article has appeared on Ghana-web shows how primitive nature of Ghanaian culture. The soldiers refrained from massacre of of innocent civilians not because the law does not permit such a heinous action but because the soldiers were persuaded to refrain from such behavior. So much for a civilized country. Ghanaian soldiers are by nature lowly educated. The reality is that soldiers do not have monopoly over the use of violence. Other people have alms. That is how insurgencies start. More and and more soldiers would have died, if they had carried out.

Those who committed that crime have already fled the town. The innocent Were those treated badly by the soldiers. Nobody is talking about these molestation. In as much as we condemn the death, the soldiers have to use their heads. There are many people who have been taken for criminals and murdered but the police or military did not go to torture the people of the area.
I personally think the news about the major' death should be curtailed because all Ghanaians have been saddened by the incident. The government too has done a lot to help the family. Not all people get it that way.

People do not go to the police because they have no money to pay bribes or would not even get justice in the courts. Why? CORRUPTION! INJUSTICE!! Please Our Elders if no one is above the Law then those soldiers who molested the villagers should be brought to book because those who committed the crime are the ones to be punished not innocent people in the village. Lessons should be learnt from the sad death of this soldier so that his death will not be in vain BUT not REVENGE!!!!

The same day Major Mahama was lynched, a 67 year old woman was lynched in Upper East region on mere suspicion of her being a witch. Not a single soul has been arrested in that case.

Another 55 year old man in Gomoa in Central region was lynched on suspicion that he has stolen one cedis fifty pesewas from a drinking joint, not a single soul has been arrested in that case either.

This family tried to make Major Mahama's death political when they threatened to go to the international court. They need to stop demanding things, I am getting tired of their demands. We are all sad they lost a young man with a bright future but his life is mot worth the destruction of an entire town.

And, if a similar case had happened in the USA, the case would have been fully investigated by the POLICE without any Soldiers hovering over their necks. Those soldiers creating havoc in the town would have been arrested.

Those arrested for allegedly taking part in the crime would have been afforded lawyers...in case they couldn't afford private attorney.

The alleged 'murderers' would not have been paraded in public.

To the extent the Army would investigate, it would ONLY be for possible violation of Army rules by the deceased soldier.

Soldiers would NOT have been sent to the town to inflict unspeakable harm on the citizens, most of who were not part of the mob.

The soldiers who reacted in that barbaric fashion would be investigated for possible dismissal from the Army.

The Army would have to be truthful in telling the country what exactly it's soldiers are doing in the town.

Ghanaians must disabuse their minds of the LIES that the soldiers are there to protect the citizens. No the soldiers are there to protect foreign galamsayers aided and abetted by officialdom Ghana.

Top Army commanders would be hauled before the US Congress to face query from Congressional Committees for sending soldiers against unarmed citizens. Some officers would either be demoted or FIRED.The Parliament of Ghana is zero silent on this matter.

And, finally, the citizens of the town, who have been brutally assaulted and maimed by the barbaric soldiers would sue and certainly receive huge sums of compensatory and punitive damages from the state or whomever sent in the rampaging soldiers. That is what a "law abiding country" like the USA would do. Ghana is NOT.

The response from Ghanaians and the Ghana government from Akuffo-Addo on down has been totally biased against the citizens of the town. We are throwing the baby away with the bath water.

Please desist from throwing sand into people's eyes. Enough of the PROPAGANDA; DISINFORMATION; MISINFORMATION; and outright LIES.

After all, there are still descent people at the community and some of us may even have relations there working as nurses, teachers etc..I have confidence in govt and the police. They have demonstrated their determination to get to the bottom of the matter.The very voices that are calling for extermination of the entire community are no different from the characters who shamelessly murdered the pleading soldier who at least was said to serving the country.Let us resolve to eschew the lynching of suspects who have surrendered.The chain of evidence may even be broken with the death of suspect who may be vital in exposing a wider criminal network
