  We are not a serious people. Just returned from my village in the Upper East Region where I witnessed total destruction of trees by Chinese nationals with the aid of chiefs from Tilli, Binaba,Kusanaba and Zongoyiri in an unprecedented manner. The red army came with heavy machines to harvest every single tree in the woodland Savannah, destroying rivers, streams and farmlands. They paid huge sums of money to the four chiefs and logged away the trees including the Shea tree which the cocoa of the Savannah. It is now June and farmers are still waiting for the first rains which should have come in April. The chiefs are claiming without proof that the Chinese were permitted by the Ministry of Lands to come and harvest the trees, so if it is true how could Ghana be taken serious in tackling climate change? As I write the carnage us raging in as nobody's business and the desert is inching every moment southward.
