Court remands medical practitioner

The Mampong-Akuapem District Magistrate Court on Wednesday remanded Dr. George Amartey Kesseh, a medical practitioner of Osu, in prison custody for two weeks for murder.

He is to appear before the court again on April 16.

Dr. Kesseh is suspected of murdering a 52-year-old carpenter, Sekyere Jacob, at Adamorobe near Aburi.

His plea was not taken.

Prosecuting, Police Inspector Simon Doe Gnogah told the court presided over by Mrs. Rhoda Donkor that, there has been a long-standing land dispute between the accused person and the complainant at Adamorobe, near Aburi, which is before the Koforidua High Court.

According to the prosecutor, on March 26, this year, the accused person threatened to kill the deceased if he dared enter the land in dispute.

Inspector Gnogah said the deceased was putting up a structure at Adamorobe for a block factory, but the structure was destroyed by some unknown persons anytime it was constructed.

He said on March 28, this year, the deceased decided to sleep in the temporal structure to protect the building from being destroyed, but was found dead the next day in the building, in a pool of blood with gun shot wounds.
