This warning should not be only to cocoa farmers but to all farmers in the country. The use of various weedicides is now on the rise by many farmers in the country, and this is wrong! These chemicals have side effects. Not doubt certain diseases that were not common in the country are now been seen in increasing numbers. Stop using insecticides and weedicides unless it is prescribed by a qualified Agric officer. Our farmers are becoming very lazy of late and the govt should also step up and provide them with tractors. At lease every district in the country should have about 10 tractors (especially districts known for food production)each and the cost for renting them should be affordable so that these farmers can rent them. They need help with clearing their lands for sowing and when they are old and can not weed like they use to, they opt for these weed killing chemicals and they are dangerous for the soils, the food they produce and ,most importantly the farmers health. Where are the Agric officers and enviromentalists in the country?
