I'm also aware that JHS & SHS in Ghana forbid students freely holding phones in school. SHS like St. Louis (Ksi) have dormitory phones for students' use, which is kept by the Prefect.
If the elders were that dumb, like you most of our dormitories would have been burnt down from abuse and illegal use!
Poor electrical fittings indeed? Who says? the reporter? How many phones were connected to that point at the time? Such irresponsible statement for the gaulible like you.
I am not justifying nor condemning the action of the authorities. I stand for punishing illegality and rebellion of any kind anywhere.

Our system produces recalcitrant graduates who care less to perform and serve the nation. They would prefer to be glued to their cell phones in offices while the masses need water, electricity and other services which they are entrusted to administer.
The Headmaster should have expelled them from school for causing financial loss to the school and disobeying school rules.
Ghana as a whole needs some strong arms to bring senses to the people particularly those in positions of trust. Yes I mean the corrupt politicians and foolish leaders in parliament and the know-nothing executive branch.

The punishment is too harsh. The schools should have let them write the exams and keep their transcript or certificates until such payments are made.
Many who may not know what goes on in the various dormitories will condemn the school authorities but there are a lot of illegal connections in the various rooms. Some connections are even made with wires connected to the bulbs. I have seen it multiple times and are risky. We don't need the schools to get burnt before we take action.

Why can't the fees wait until they come and pick up their official results? We have all sorts of characters in this society who cannot think 1 week ahead.
And the same people anguish about armed robberies plaguing our society. If you don't create opportunities for the youth and throw wrenches in their progress you will end up creating criminals. And lots of them. It is part of the human survival instincts. For the rest of us it is awful, disgusting and dreadful but for the criminal mind it is a necessary evil.
