Stranded Senchi passengers defecate in the open

A phalanx of stranded commuters at the Senchi thoroughfare in the Eastern region is resorting to open defecation as a result of lack of public toilet facilities.

Reports reaching XYZ News indicate that there is a 20-seater public toilet which is still uncompleted and so cannot be used by the stranded commuters.

The closure of the Adomi Bridge which connects Greater Accra, Eastern and Volta regions is the reason for the ballooning traffic jam at the thoroughfare.

Easter holiday travels have also worsened the situation. Hordes of revelers travelling to any of the three regions linked by the bridge are having a hell of a time getting to their destination.

One of the only two pontoons available for ferrying cars across the Volta Lake to various destinations has broken down thus further exacerbating the traffic problem.

Frustrated travelers say they have been stranded at the thoroughfare for more than 24 hours and were forced to spend the night in a long traffic jam spanning about 1.6 kilometres.

They are forced to urinate and defecate in the opened surroundings of Senchi due to the lack of toilet facilities for use.
